This page is for people who want a hotel close to Kanazawa Station, for example on the first day of a trip or a business visit, and want to compare what the listings actually say. - A listing of "1 to 2 minutes on foot" can mean the east exit or the west exit. Decide the exit first.
- If rain and luggage matter, check whether the listing describes the route from the station.
- When prices are lined up for the same date and the same party, the gap between hotels shows clearly.
Who this helps, and who it does not
It helps if you arrive in Kanazawa and want to drop your luggage early, if you pull a suitcase and want less time outdoors, or if you want to sort out the east exit and the west exit before booking.
It helps less if you want to stay near Kenrokuen or Katamachi and walk around there, or if you are driving. For a car, read the parking conditions before the distance from the station.
Three things to read in a listing
East exit or west exit. The same "1 minute" can end on opposite sides of the station. ANA Crowne Plaza Kanazawa lists the east exit, while AB Hotel Kanazawa lists the west exit of the Hokuriku Shinkansen station. Kanazawa Manten Hotel Ekimae writes "Kanazawa Port exit (west exit)", which shows that the west exit is also called the Kanazawa Port exit. The side where your next morning's errand is should decide the hotel.
The route in rain. If the minutes are equal, a covered route is the next thing to look for. ANA Crowne Plaza Kanazawa is the only one of the five whose listing says you can reach the hotel from Motenashi Dome without getting wet. The other four do not say this, and we do not guess.
Price on one date. The "from X yen" figure on a facility page is a lower bound that does not depend on a date. Here, all prices are for 30 September (Wednesday), 2 adults in 1 room. On that date the five range from 9,234 yen to 20,904 yen. Walking time and price do not line up.

The listing gives 2 minutes on foot from the east exit of JR Kanazawa Station, in front of Forus, so it names both a side of the station and a landmark. The address is 2-25 Horikawa-shinmachi, Kanazawa. It mentions a natural hot-spring large bath and a sauna, plus free ice cream after the bath and late-night noodles. The price on 30 September was 20,904 yen. Rakuten Travel shows 12,356 reviews with an average of 4.41; with that many reviews, a few new ratings move the average less. For parking, the listing gives a tower-type garage with 74 spaces, a height limit of 2.1 m and a width limit of 1.8 m, 1,500 yen per night, first come first served.

For parking, it states 78 spaces at 1,300 yen per night with a 1.9 m height limit, first come, not reservable, and a partner lot at 800 yen per night.

The listing states 45 parking spaces at 1,500 yen for one night, 15:00 to 11:00 the next day.

If you are driving
The distance from a station and the ease of parking are separate questions, and each listing words its terms differently. Dormy Inn Kanazawa gives height and width limits and says first come first served. Kanazawa Manten Hotel Ekimae gives a 24-hour period from entry and says large vehicles are allowed with a reservation. AB Hotel Kanazawa uses an adjacent paid lot with a fixed time window, and entry and exit are billed separately. If you drive a tall or large vehicle, read these lines before anything else.
Does closer to the station mean more expensive?
Not necessarily. APA Hotel Kanazawa-Ekimae lists the west exit, 1 minute on foot, and the price on 30 September was 9,234 yen. AB Hotel Kanazawa also lists the west exit, 1 minute, at 10,000 yen. Two hotels a minute from the station were both around 10,000 yen on that date, so closeness and price do not always move together.
Do reviews help?
Read the score together with the count. Dormy Inn Kanazawa has 12,356 reviews with an average of 4.41, while ANA Crowne Plaza Kanazawa has 3,289 with an average of 4.32. Both are above 4, but with a very different number of reviews behind each average, the same difference in score does not carry the same weight.
