Sendai Station Hotels with a Large Public Bath: 4 Compared

We did not stay at these hotels. This page is built from Rakuten Travel listings. The buttons are affiliate links to Rakuten Travel and Agoda, labeled PR.

This page is for people who want a hotel with a large public bath near Sendai Station and would like to compare what the listings say. It compares four hotels using listing data only: whether a large bath is mentioned, the review score for the bath, the price for one night and the walk from the station. It has no impressions from a stay.

Quick answer

  • First check that the listing says "large public bath". Whether the water is a natural hot spring is a separate statement.
  • Do not stop at the overall review average. Look at the score for the bath alone.
  • Opening hours of the large bath are not in the Rakuten Travel facility data for any of the four. If you arrive late at night, ask the hotel before booking.

Three things to check

A large bath is not the same as a hot spring. All four listings mention a large public bath, but they word it differently. Dormy Inn Sendai Ekimae and Dormy Inn Sendai ANNEX state a natural hot spring bath, and also list a sauna. Hotel Grandbach Sendai and Hotel Mayflower Sendai mention a large bath without saying hot spring. Neither is better by this alone. It only matters if you book expecting a particular kind of water.

The bath score, not only the average. Rakuten Travel shows review averages by item, including the bath. The bath scores here are 4.45 for Hotel Grandbach Sendai, 4.35 for Dormy Inn Sendai ANNEX, 4.33 for Dormy Inn Sendai Ekimae and 3.59 for Hotel Mayflower Sendai. The overall averages are 4.55, 4.3, 4.19 and 3.64 in the same order. Also read the count: Hotel Grandbach Sendai has 1,263 reviews and Dormy Inn Sendai Ekimae has 5,765, so the same score does not carry the same weight.

The walk after the bath. From JR Sendai Station, the listings say about 5 minutes (Dormy Inn Sendai Ekimae, west exit), 5 minutes (Hotel Grandbach Sendai, east exit), about 6 minutes (Dormy Inn Sendai ANNEX) and 10 minutes (Hotel Mayflower Sendai). Dormy Inn Sendai ANNEX also lists about 2 minutes from Hirose-dori Station on the subway, which matters if you travel by subway.

What this page does not cover

Opening hours of the large bath, the content of the water, room size and check-in time are not covered. The Rakuten Travel data leaves some of them blank, and we did not stay, so we do not fill the gaps with guesses.
